George "Denny" Welch

George "Denny" Welch, 79, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, formerly of Hollidaysburg, died at the home following a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late George Dennis and Violet E. (Knokes) Welch. He married Violet Marie Bradley who preceded him in death on December 28, 1998.
Denny is survived by one son, Dennis Jefferey; two step-children, Veronica A. Sorenson, of Carrollton, TX, and Warren F.; a number of grandchildren and a sister Jeanne Berkheimer of West Loop, Hollidaysburg.
He retired as a plumbing specialist with Lowes of Altoona and had previously retired from the United States Marine Corps. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
At Denny's request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral and committal services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
