Richard D. Robertson, Sr., 83, Altoona, passed away Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late William Orlando and Sara Jane (Fonner) Robertson. On July 8, 1955, he married Phyllis J. Shannon in Winchester, VA.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, of 61 years, he is survived by four children: Richard D., Jr. of Martinsburg, Nancy L. Robertson, of Altoona, Tracy Robertson, of Baltimore, and Phillip O. Robertson (Amy) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Matthew D. Robertson (Gretchen Morgan), Paige McCarthy (Michael), Elliott Robertson, and Noah Robertson; a great grandson, Alexander (and baby Chloe, due in May); four sisters: Patricia Donovan, Deanna Luckenbaugh, Deborah Hrzic (Dennis), all of Mechanicsburg, and Beverly Wilinski of Altoona; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Graves.
He was a member of the Juniata United Methodist Church. He retired in 1992 from L.S. Fiore Construction Company as a laborer. Following his retirement, he worked as an usher at the Altoona Curve for 5 years. He was former Executive Director of George B. Kelley Federation and coached baseball for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
Richard served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, with Pastor T R Hardic, officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
