Robert E. Buchanan, 84, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Walter “Buck” and Edna (Coke) Buchanan. He was twice married. First to Marie Mickel in 1949. She preceded him in death in 2001. On January 13, 2007 he married Barbara J. DelBaggio in Altoona.
In addition to his wife, Barb of 10 years, he is survived by a son, Robert D. of Cape Coral, FL and a daughter, Lorrie Stirling of Largo, FL; four grandchildren: Randy Kaltenbaugh, Lauran Buchanan, Nicole Ubrig, and Robbie Buchanan; two great grandsons: Connor and Collin Ubrig; a brother, Rick Buchanan of Altoona; a sister, Janet Fiochetta of Altoona; and a step-son, Michael Ronan.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy and three siblings: Ron Buchanan, Joyce Pulcinello, and Jane Malone.
Robert was owner of Pioneer Gun Sales in Juniata.
He was a member of Riggles Gap Bible Church and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of many local Sportsman Clubs around Blair County.
During his early years, he played accordion for a dance band and for over 50 years enjoyed playing for his church. Later in life, he enjoyed entertaining his family and friends at home and occasionally played at Graystone Manor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Riggles Gap Bible Church, 613 Lear Road, Altoona, 16601. Pastor Bill Ice officiating.
