William H. Zimmerman, “Red”, 89, Altoona, passed away Saturday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Clearfield, a son of the late John and Betty (Luzier) Zimmerman.
He is survived by his former wife, Marlene (Cartwright) Zimmerman; two daughters: Debra (Darrell) Barlow, of Shreveport, LA and Paula (John) Vincent, of Altoona; son-in-law, Bill Mitchell, of Altoona; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Linda) Zimmerman, of Duncansville; special friend, Ron Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Bohn; a granddaughter, Tori Zimmerman; two sisters: Gwendolyn and Millicent; and two brothers: Leslie and Ernie.
William was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for Crane Co. until its closing then retired from Conrail.
He was an avid fisherman and loved to walk at the Altoona Campus.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 28. Pastor Jason Morse officiating. Interment will be made at Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
