Inabel Viola Black, 90, Sinking Valley, passed away early Sunday morning at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Armstrong County, daughter of the late Charles Leslie and Kathleen Belle (Krider) Boyd. On Aug. 18, 1944, she married Samuel C. Black at St. John Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1976.
Surviving are three sons: William E. (Judy Lynn) Black of Tyrone and Robert S. (Penny) Black and John C. (Traci) Black, both of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Clinton, Ashley, Paige, Ross, Elizabeth and Abraham Black; two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Allison Black; a sister, Ada Nichols; two brothers: John and Chester Boyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Omar Strohm, a special friend.
Inabel was a 1943 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was a member of Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church (formerly Arch Spring Presbyterian Church) and a 50-year member of Pennsylvania Grange.
Inabel was a homemaker and greatly enjoyed cooking. She enjoyed playing cards, especially with her Sinking Valley Pinnacle Card Club ladies for more than 50 years, traveling abroad and bowling. She was also very active in the farming community activities for many years.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church, 6444 Kettle Road, Tyrone, the Rev. Ernie Walls officiating. Interment will be made at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
