Francis Elizabeth Diskey

January 24, 1934 — May 2, 2017

Francis Elizabeth Diskey, 83, Twin Falls, Idaho, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday.

Francis was born in Juniata, daughter of the late David Raymond and Hazel Lorena (Chronister) Edwards. She was an independent person her whole life, leaving home as a young adult and making her own way in the world at a fairly young age. She married Thomas Stoy and had a beloved son, Thomas Thornsberry (wife, Donna Thornsberry), who preceded her in death. Later she married Delmer Thornsberry and had another son, Stephan Thornsberry (wife, Colletta Thornsberry).

Francis is survived by her son, Steve, in Twin Falls, Idaho; her daughter-in-law, Donna; and her granddaughters Melissa Myers, Tammy Thornsberry, Anne Bistline (Dan), and her grandson Dustin Thornsberry, in Indiana; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, all in Mountain Home, Idaho; her sister, Patricia of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Bernard Faust of Altoona; and six nieces: Linda, Barbara, Karen, Sharon, Debbie and Laurie, all of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Thornsberry; her parents; her brother, Raymond; her sister, Janet; and the love of her life, Gene.

Francis had an amazing career, starting as a licensed practical nurse and continuing her education until she became a registered nurse, even teaching nursing students at one time. Her passion, however, was working in the emergency rooms. She lived and worked in hospitals in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida and Idaho.

Francis loved her sons beyond measure and her life was happiest when spending time with her sons. She loved to travel and spent many days on the road, either with friends and family or all alone. She went all the way across the United States, even into her 70s. She also ventured to Germany twice to see her son, his wife and her three granddaughters while her son was stationed there. These trips were taken with her true love in life, Gene Shuler. Although they never married, her heart was his till death.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, at Rosenau Funeral Home & Crematory, Twin Falls, Idaho. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata.
