James Robert Reimer, “Jim”, 73, Altoona, died Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Herman H. and Viola (Gray) Reimer. On October 26, 1963 he married his loving wife and best friend, Patty L. Butterbaugh in Altoona.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years and an extended family of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, James P.; a sister, Dolores Wertz, and a brother, William P. Reimer.
Jim was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired as a bus driver from AMTRAN in 2007 after more than 30 years of service with nearly 16 of those as Vice President and President/Business Agent of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 801.
Jim proudly served in, and retired as a Staff Sergeant from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard with more than 20 years of service. During his service, he received numerous awards and decorations.
He enjoyed carpentry, computing, watching the Steelers, and his beloved dog, Abby.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata. Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
