Laurita Robison

Laurita M. Robison, 87, Duncansville, died peacefully Saturday night at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Frank A. and S. Kathryn (Duck) McKinney. She married Carl A. Robison on July 2, 1953, in Juniata.

Surviving are her husband Carl, of more than 64 years; four sons: Barry C. Robison and wife Joni B., of Boiling Springs, PA, Mark A. Robison and wife Jan, of Flagstaff, AZ, Daniel P. Robison and wife Denise M., of Pottstown, and Ken J. Robison and wife Brenda L. of Tipton; two daughters: Janet L. Bumbarger and husband Norman A. of Altoona and Sherry L. Ankeny and husband Kevin A. of Glens Falls, NY; 11 grandchildren: Lindsay Shoop, Gabriel Robison, Sam Robison, Ambrose Robison, Sean Robison, Ryan Robison, Lauren Robison, Kelsie Bumbarger, Kimberly Bumbarger, Brande Robison, and Kenny Robison; a great granddaughter, Brooklyn Morrison; two sisters: Freda Simonetti and husband Frank and Shirley Leisenring; two brothers: James McKinney and wife Judy and Wilbur McKinney and wife Laura.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William McKinney and a grandson, Benjamin Robison.

She graduated from Altoona High School in 1948, then got her B.S. degree in 1952 from Indiana State Teachers College, now called IUP. From 1952-1959, she taught in the Altoona School District then took time off to raise her family and returned to teaching from 1981-1995 at Claysburg-Kimmel School.

She was a lifelong member of the Juniata United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday school and was a youth leader and was very active in United Methodist Women. She was a member of Rebecca Circle and the church quilters. She also organized many of the services over the years for the different religious seasons and also arranged funeral dinners.

She was a member of Chapter #290, Order of the Eastern Star, the Blair County Chapter of School Retirees and the PA Association of School Retirees.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, PA 16601, with Pastor TR Hardic, officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juniata United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.
