Sharon L. "Bunny" Bartlebaugh

May 22, 1947 — September 28, 2017

Sharon L. “Bunny” (Weyer) Bartlebaugh, daughter of the late Alvin L. and Henrietta E. (Betz) Weyer, was born on May 22, 1947 in Altoona, PA. She was given the nickname “Bunny” by her mother when she was just a baby and it stayed with her all her life.

Bunny was united in Holy matrimony with David Paul Bartlebaugh, on May 18, 1968. Together they had three children: Faith Melissa Tallmadge and her husband, Joseph, Sr., David A. “Tony” Bartlebaugh, and Timothy J. Bartlebaugh and his wife, Sarah, all of Altoona.

Bunny loved and cared deeply for all babies and children; it was a guarantee that if you brought a baby to visit, it would have a bath in her kitchen sink before it left the house. The brightest stars in her universe were her own grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her grandchildren are Judith L. Brooks and her husband Jason W. Rebersburg, PA, Ivy M. Kirk of Newburg, MD, Joseph Tallmadge, Jr., Tyler P. Tallmadge, Logan S. Bartlebaugh, and Lukas J. Bartlebarugh, all of Altoona.

Her great grandchildren are Miles, Clara, and Elena Brooks of Rebersburg, PA and Leland, Owen, and Jaxon Kirk, of White Plains, MD.

Bunny did everything she could to make her families lives special, from impromptu bingo games, special meals, to wrapping them up and holding them in their much loved ‘blankies’.

She also very much adored her faithful canine companion, Boston Terrier, Maggie.

Bunny loved spending time with her family and was the happiest when they were all together. She also loved flowers, working her gardens and watching and feeding the many birds and bunnies in her yard.

She also enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, and going to the many area craft shows every year.

Bunny was known to never turn away a ‘stray’, be it human or animal, she would love and care for them as her own. She was also loved and known among her family and friends for her heartfelt but no-nonsense advice. Bunny was “everybody’s Gram”.

She was one of eight siblings and was preceded in death by her brother Alvin “Jerry” Weyer, and sisters: Joanne Boore and Marjorie McClain. Surviving are sisters Nancy Harrelson of Fairfax, VA and Michele Beatty of Inman, SC and brothers, Ron Weyer and Rick Weyer, both of Altoona, PA, as well as countless other family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will also be greatly missed by the many friends of her children that she loved as her own.

At Bunny’s request there will be no wake or funeral. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date at the convenience of the family.

If you’d like to honor Bunny’s memory, go to Ritchey’s Dairy and have some blueberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone. That was her favorite.
