Richard W. Brubaker, “Dick”, 79, Altoona, passed away Monday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Robert and Vada (Saudrus) Brubaker. On July 22, 1956, he married Donna Jean Runk in Altoona.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by two children: Richard A. “Rick” Brubaker and wife Rebecca of Ohiopyle, PA and Sherry L. Freet (Al) of Bell Vernon, PA; four grandchildren: Caitlin Brubaker, Heather Paulding (Clayton), Adam Freet (Brittany), and Andrew Freet (Amy Kaehr); five great-grandchildren: Edwin and Lucas Paulding, Jackson, Mackenzie, and Lucy Freet; two brother-in-law’s: Clair Runk (Doris) of Altoona and Gordon Runk of Altoona; and two sister-in-law’s: Beverly Wood of Wisconsin and Judy Biddle of Altoona.
Dick served in the Reserve of the United States Marine Corps and received the rank of Lance Corporal.
He worked for Hite Electric Company as a tractor trailer driver. He was a member of the Altoona Alliance Church and a member of the Juniata Gap Sportsman Association, was a lifelong hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time out on his boat.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, November 27. Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
