Harry S. “Chuck” Barrett, Sr., 96, Altoona, died Sunday morning at Garvey Manor.
He was born in Homers Gap, Altoona, the son of the late James Z. and Sara (Ayers) Barrett. He married Barbara J. Lockard on February 26, 1951 in Maryland. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons: Harry S. “Sam” Barrett, Jr., and wife Doris and Gary Lee Barrett, and wife Debbie, both of Altoona; one daughter, Barbara Ann Smith, of Carlisle; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and three sisters: Margaret T. Malovitch and Joan Brubaker, both of Altoona, and Sara Clark of Queen.
Chuck retired as a Freight Conductor for Penn Central Railroad in 1980.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday with Pastor TR Hardic, officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
