Harold B. Thompson, 74, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Saturday November 25th.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Arlie and Margie (Kuhn) Thompson. His father Arlie was killed in action during World War II when Harold was just a baby. His mother, Margie later married Richard Burket who raised Harold and his sister as his own.
Harold graduated from Altoona High School and went directly into the US Marine Corps. Harold proudly served his country for 4 years, completing 3 full tours in Viet Nam. He married Jeryl-Dene Stiffler on May 27, 1967.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, as well as his daughter Rochelle (Jeff) MacAlarney and his grand-daughter Camryn of Altoona, his son Chad (Kim) Thompson and his grandson Lance of Altoona. Also survived by his sister Margie (Jake) Schaffer of Altoona and his brother Richard (June) Burket of Utah, and a special cousin Nancy (Larry) Coon of Virginia and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Harold was a member of the Juniata Methodist Church. Harold enjoyed hunting, archery, softball, being in the outdoors and playing with his grandchildren.
Harold was a wonderful son, a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, a proud Marine and he would do anything to help others. Harold will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He will be Forever in our hearts and memories.
A private memorial service with Honor Guard is scheduled for 11 am Friday, December 1, 2017, at Grandview cemetery, Altoona.
