Dorcas N. Quarello, 91, Altoona, passed away Monday evening at Maybrooks Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Harvey A. and Martha M. (Harbaugh) Whitaker. On January 28, 1946, she married Robert C. Quarello in Altoona. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1991.
She is survived by a son, Donald E. Quarello of Camp Hill, Judy K. Quarello of Mechanicsburg; two grandsons: Gregory S. Quarello and Brad A. Quarello; a granddaughter, Laura D. (Quarello) Shank, MD and husband Rev. Jeremy D. Shank; and two great granddaughters: Abigail G. and Sara F. Shank.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Maizie A. Whitaker and Norma P. Whitaker; and a brother, Sewell “Buck” Whitaker.
Dorcas was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and was a member of the Alumni Association. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, an original member of Bethany Lutheran Couples Class, honorary member of the Horseshoe Drifters Camping Club, and a member of the National Campers and Hikers of America. She enjoyed flower gardening, crossword puzzles, photography, county music, and country music concerts.
Friends will be received from 11 until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata. Pastor Drew McCaffery officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
