Joan Belle Montgomery, 90, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Albert E. and Mary Elizabeth (McDowell) Sarvis. On November 8, 1945, she married Joseph William Montgomery, Sr. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1998.
She is survived by three daughters: Rosemary Cerra and husband Ross of Altoona, Janice Ebersole and husband John of South Carolina, and Barbara Staub of Ohio; two sons: Joseph William, Jr. of Altoona and Robert Grant of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Juniata Peightal; a brother, Norman Sarvis; a granddaughter, Diane Cerra; a grandson, Jeremy Montgomery; and a son-in-law, Harold Staub.
Joan was employed by Sylvania, J.C. Penney, and John Ebersole Sports.
She attended Eighth Avenue Methodist Church. She was a dedicated volunteer for more than 20 years at the gift shop at Altoona Hospital and “Off Your Rockers” church lunch group.
