Doris Anne Noble, 93, of Altoona, PA, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Altoona.

She was born in Woodhaven, NY, a daughter of the late Augustus O. and Anna (Clarke) Peverelly.

Doris, Jack, and their family relocated many times throughout New York State, living on Long Island, in Woodhaven, Floral Park, East Islip, and later, after a long and satisfying work life, retiring to Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks.

During their time on Long Island, Doris and Jack were founding members of the First Baptist Church of Central Islip, NY, and important institution that remains vital to the spiritual lives of the community today.

Starting in 1957, Doris and Jack, vacationed nearly every summer with their three children on Lower and Middle Saranac Lakes as well as Weller Pond which was one of their favorite places. It was these memorable experiences that led to the next exciting phase of their lives.

Upon retiring in 1984, they moved from Long Island to Saranac Lake where they were active in Meals-on-Wheels, as well as the Saranac Lake Senior Center, and were members of Tupper Lake Baptist Chapel.

Doris enjoyed singing in church choirs, rustic camping, participating in Winter Carnival festivals, and was an avid bird and wildlife watcher. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to Civil War sites throughout the East Coast.

In February of 2011, after many years of independent living, Doris moved to Altoona, PA, in order to be closer to her daughter Wendy and her grandsons.
