Martin L. “Marty” Franks Jr., 63, Altoona, died Friday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Martin L. and Goldie R. (Weierick) Franks Sr. On May 28, 2005, he married Marie Enedy.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Matthew Franks (Camilla) of Cary, N.C., and Mark Franks (Angela) of Beaver Falls; six grandchildren: Harper, Keagan, Cameron, Hazel, Chase and Adam; a sister, Vickie Knotts (Mike) of Altoona; a niece, Meghan; a nephew, Richard; two nieces: Meghan and Leah; a great-nephew, Anders; his father-in-law, Robert Enedy Sr. (Linda); his mother-in-law, Carolyn Brogan; a sister-in-law, Tara Enedy; and a brother-in-law, Robert Enedy Jr. (Angela).
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Colton.
Marty was a 1973 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He retired as an electrician from Norfolk Southern, having begun his career with Conrail. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Altoona, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 74, Riggles Gap Sportsman’s Club and the IBEW.
He was an accomplished woodworker, and he enjoyed music. He also enjoyed target shooting in a pistol league, geo-caching and the outdoors, including fishing, hiking and camping. Marty also enjoyed his cigars, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends around a campfire ring. He had great affection for his sons, grandchildren and great-nephew.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson.
