Forrest C. “Skip” Hughes, 66, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late George I., Sr., and Joyce M. (Burley) Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Pam A. (Wheeler) Hughes of Cresson; a daughter, Nichole M. Williams of Cresson; a son, Travis Clair Hughes of East Freedom; five grandchildren: Jourdan, Brayden, Kaelyn, Marissa, and Cody; five siblings: Darlene Arthurs of Lexington, KY, Judy Williams of Altoona, Rusty Hughes of Tyrone, Jeffrey Hughes of Altoona, and Mindy Billetdeaux of Altoona; close friends: Flip and Ed; and loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: George I. “Bud”, Jr. and Cheryl A. Plunket.
Skip was a graduate of Penn Cambria High School. He worked as a truck driver for Birk Transfer. He was a member of the Ashville VFW Post 4315 and the Duncansville VFW Post 8724 and enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time at the river. He loved his truck and especially loved spending time with his family.
Skip was proud to call himself a U.S. Marine and served two tours in Vietnam.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018. Interment will be made at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson Twp.
