Doreen E. Lee

January 26, 1929 — April 18, 2018

Doreen E. Lee, 89, of McDonough, GA, formerly of Altoona, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday morning at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Griffin, GA.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Chester C. and Pearl M. (Whitfield) Pike. On April 25th of 1947, she married the love of her life, Rev. John W. Lee, in Bellwood, PA. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1999.

Doreen is survived by three sons: John W. Lee II of Delray Beach, Florida; Timothy R. Lee and wife Carol of McDonough, GA, and Kevin Lee of Florida; and a daughter, Lori DeMarco and husband John of New Jersey, all of whom she dearly loved. Also surviving, are her cherished 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Doreen was a 1946 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School. She attended the Altoona Bible Institute, the Baptist Bible College, formally of Johnson City, NY, and the Philadelphia Bible College. She was a devoted teacher at Faith Christian Schools of Trenton, NJ and Hamilton Square, NJ and at the Calvary Baptist Christian Academy from 1979 until she retired in 1997. Most significantly, she dedicated her life and love to her husband’s ministry throughout his pastoral life. She shared the love of Christ to any and all who knew her. Her happiest days were spent surrounded by her family, who will miss her greatly but look forward to the day they will see her again.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where she shared her love of scripture with the Women’s Sunday School Class. She, also, served as a volunteer at the Altoona Hospital.

Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, 16602 with Rev. Timothy R. Lee officiating. Burial will take place at the Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Missions Fund.
