Kenneth E. Earnest, 88, Altoona, died late Saturday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George and Helen (Bennett) Earnest. He married Mary Noakes June 18, 1994 in Altoona.
Surviving is his wife Mary; 5 sons: Raymond Earnest (Debra), Kenneth M. Earnest (Renee) Mark Earnest (Gloria), all of California, Troy Earnest, and Jody Earnest, both of Pennsylvania; 2 step sons: Fred Dively and Jerry Gensamer; 2 step daughters: Barbara Bordell and Susan McCahren (Albert); 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Eleanor Hoopes and Florene Keith, and 1 brother Gene Earnest (Ruth); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ken retired as a dockman after many years of service with Holsum Bakery. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a member of Riggles Gap Bible Church. He loved music and was a teacher of guitar. He played in many bands over the years, including The Legends, The Cavaliers, and the Prime Time band. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, classic cars, and was a history buff. He even loved his cat, Cuddles.
Friends will be received from 11 AM to 1 PM and 4 PM to 7 PM Wednesday, May 2, and from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service Thursday, May 3, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. William Ice, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
