John “Jack” B. Stehle, Jr., 70, Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late John and Verna (Wolf) Stehle.
John is survived by a son, Brad Stehle and Paulette of Altoona; a granddaughter, Savannah of Easton, PA; a sister, Joyce McCord and husband Brian of Hollidaysburg; a niece, Lori Gadelhak and family of Ocean, NJ; his caregiver, Shirley; his best friend, John Quarello; and his loving companion, Benji Larue.
He was preceded in death by a son, Nathan; and a niece, Sheila.
John was a 1966 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired as an engineer from Norfolk Southern, formerly Conrail. He was a member of the Second Avenue United Methodist Church and he enjoyed landscaping and working on his house. He was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan.
He served in the Army Reserves.
Friends will be received from 4 until the 7 p.m. funeral service on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata. Pastor Brian Sandell officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
