Janet Louise Focht, 89, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at her home. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late G. Chalmer McElwee and Verna (Leasure) McElwee. On November 7, 1945, she married Walter W. Focht in Maryland.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; three children: Ken W. Focht and wife Marlene of Altoona, Don W. Focht and wife Karen of Altoona, Karen L. Maher and husband Rich of Altoona; two daughter-in-law’s: Kris Focht and Cyndi Lovas; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren; four nephews; and a cousin.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Alan W. Focht in 2005 and infant, Steven E. Focht; and a brother, George Sinclair.
She was a graduate of Altoona High School. During her working years, she worked as a sales rep for Avon, a cafeteria cashier for the AASD, and she retired in 1980 as a cafeteria cashier from the Altoona Hospital.
Janet was a member of the Trans4mation Church, formerly, Pleasant Valley Assembly of God and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed horses and dogs.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601, with the Rev. James Balzano officiating. Interment will be made at Asbury Cemetery, Altoona.
