Esther Stella (Erickson) Wombacher, 78, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Mae (Richards) Erickson.
She is survived by nine children: Deborah K. Garman of Hollidaysburg, Barry H. Wombacher, Jr. of Altoona, Cindy L. Hughes of Altoona, John J. Hann of Altoona, Paul A. Wombacher of Altoona, Kathy M. Friedenberger of Altoona, Phillip H. Wombacher (Stephanie) of Glasglow, Sherry S. Koelle (Wade) of Altoona, and Trudy M. Long (Pete) of Hollidaysburg; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Erickson of Altoona; and two brothers: Pete of North Carolina and Phil Erickson of Bellwood.
On Saturday, Esther’s brother Charles, of Bellwood, went home to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Barry Wombacher, Sr.; two sons: Alfred and Stephen; four sisters: Marie Hahn, Elizabeth Gray, Donna Troutman, and Ruth Nagle; and two brothers: Walter and John Erickson.
Esther was a faithful employee at D&M Linen for many years. She continued to work at Balfurd for the next 18 years. She worked until the month before her passing. She enjoyed working, camping, church, and listening to Elvis. She was a devoted faithful woman to the Lord. There’s nothing she loved more than cooking Sunday dinner and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Pastor Yeager officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
