Virginia L. D'Uva

Virginia Louise “Ginny” D’Uva, 77, Altoona, passed away at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William P. and Edith Charlotte (Merrits) Shannon. She married Joseph E. D’Uva, Jr., February 10, 1959. He preceded her in death January 13, 1999.

Surviving are her children: Athena D’Uva-Loarca, Bonnie D’Uva Whitesell (Ed), Steven M. D’Uva (Regina), Felicia M. Gonzalez (Roberto), and Joseph D’Uva (Jenny); 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings Gladys Brawdy, Phyllis Robertson, Linda Brantner, and Edith Hertzog, and one sister in law Phyllis Ann Pannebaker. She was preceded by her brother Bill Shannon.

Ginny was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School, and a 1977 graduate of Nursing School. She retired as an LPN after many years of service, and was a member of PSEA Nursing Organization. She enjoyed family activities, antiquing, reading, spoiling her pets, travelling, and bowling.

Friends will be received from 3:00 PM until the 4:00 PM memorial service Friday, September 7, at First Church of the Brethren, Altoona. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pa Humane Society, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602.
