Donald L. Burket, 94, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday evening at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles O. and Elva M (Feight) Burket. He married Betty Utts April 5, 1947, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Juniata.
Surviving is his wife Betty of 71 years; one daughter—Beth Burket Heinemann (Paul) of State College; three grandchildren: Julia Heinemann and her husband Josh Sholes; grandson Christian W. Heinemann, and granddaughter Allison J. B. Heinemann; one great-grandchild; three sisters: Shirley Stauffer (Richard), Beverly Neil, and Wilma Swab; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donald worked as a machine operator at Penn Jacobson Manufacturing for many years. He was a graduate of Altoona High School, and was a combat wounded veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II. He was an active member of Juniata United Methodist Church, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and was an avid reader.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, 16601 with the Pastor Julia Piper officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
