Harry Thomas David

Harry Thomas David, also known as “Bug”, 92, Duncansville, died Tuesday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Clair Edward and Mary Belle (Benner) David. On July 4, 1953, he married Joyce Ann Beatty in Altoona. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2017.

Surviving are three children: Bonnie Green and husband Bert, of Altoona, Jeff David and wife Sherry of Altoona, and Melissa David-Bailey and husband Raife, of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren: Mandy McManus, Summer Tomlinson, Ryan David, Justin David, Ira Bailey, Finn Bailey, and Holden Bailey; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Mr. David retired from Conrail in June, 1988, where he was a carman/welder. He served in the Navy during World War II. He enjoyed walking at the mall, where he was known as the candy man. He loved his dogs and he loved to feed the birds and squirrels.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, 16602.
