Debra J. Koontz, 60, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at home early Saturday morning with her family by her side. She is now enjoying her new body free of pain and suffering in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore (Ps. 16:11). She fought an amazing and courageous battle with cancer for over two years, while continuing to focus her love and concern for family and friends over her own immediate needs.
She was born at the Fort Bragg Army Hospital in Fayetteville, NC, daughter of Frank and Donna (Ritchey) Pruyn, Sr.
Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Timothy Koontz of Altoona; her parents Frank and Donna Pruyn; two daughters: Heather Givler (Adam) of Altoona and Sherri Trude of Wilmington, DE; two sisters: Brenda Galliano (Raul) of Secaucus, NJ, and Carol Pruyn of Altoona, one brother Frank Pruyn, Jr. (Traci) of Altoona.
Deb and her husband also raised three grandchildren for much of their lives: Hayli Robles (Terrance), Kobe, and Devyn Trude of Altoona, who collectively have been the light of her life over the past 19 years. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Deb spent much of her life working and volunteering at a number of local schools in various capacities, and was a member of First Church of Christ.
Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2019, and from 10 AM until 11 AM Wednesday, January 30, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM, with Pastor John Collins, officiating. Committal will be at Alto Reste Park.
