John L. Mauk, 67, Altoona, passed away Monday evening at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert P. and Lorraine (Snyder) Mauk. On July 28, 1977, he married Pamela Ammerman in Altoona.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, surviving are a daughter, Shelby Swope and husband, Adam, of Altoona; a granddaughter, Quincy; and a sister-in-law, Marsha Nee and husband, John, in Florida.
John was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam as an Underwater Demolition Expert. John retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 354.
He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Juniata VFW and the Keystone Rod and Gun Club.
John enjoyed spending time with his family and taking vacations.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's honor may be made to a children's or animal organization of your choice.
